Subject: Battery level indicator

Hi all,
Seeing that for some reason when I last looked the battery indicator on
the G3 Powerbooks were designed to be incompatible with the Intel
equivalent software I have no way of being warned when my battery is
about to die, and end up having my machine switch off on me without
warning.
What should I be running on a Gnome desktop to get a battery level
indicator and a battery low warning?
