Thanks, I did know about that site - yaboot's there, but no info.
BTW, did you know that site is _down_ ? Has been since late June 14/early
June 15, is there a mirror to http://ppclinux.apple.com/~benh/

    In regards to what I was really getting at with my question, the
answer was found in the LinuxPPC install manual (ç;
I'm using YDL CS 1.2, but sometimes it feels like they ("you," YDL) leave as
much unsaid as help that _is_ given.

Here's my config file now:

timeout = 5
default = linux

image = hd:5,\vmlinux
    label = linux
    root = /dev/hdb9
    append="video=aty128fb:vmode:17,cmode:32 hdb=noautotune"
