This sounds vaguely familiar, but you said you check the archives, so maybe
not.

Are you continuing with the installation after partitioning the drive? I was
having problems when I tried to do that, and found that this sequence worked
for me: Run fdisk at the usual time, edit the partition map, write the map,
get the warning message, quit from fdisk, reboot, and then run through the
initial configuration up the fdisk part, but this time just do "Done" at the
Partition Disks dialog box (rather than "fdisk"). On the following "Current
Disk Partitions" screen, all the partitions should appear (the ones that you
set up the first time through). See if that does the trick for you...

That may not be it, since I recall the symptoms being different of the
problem for which that was the solution. Maybe worth a shot though.
