Thanks Chris for the reply:

Yes I do have the services and a line in the atalkd.conf that I have added
which didn't help (eth0 -phase 2 -net 0-65534.....the rest usually gets
configured) so I uncommented the line to eliminate a variable to solving the
issue, (PB works with out this line).

I have also entered configurations into the AppleVolumes.default. All of
these items I have configured fine in the past on other systems. This is the
1st iBook I've dealt with ydl on.

Anybody any other ideas. Like I said other aspects of the NIC work fine,
telnet, pinging, appletalkIP (not ddp), samba, ftp all work fine.

i do know that after screwing with appletalk some that if you init 1 and
then
init 3 appletalk still will give you those errors. appletalk also needs to
load
in a sequence, like after eth0 or what have you. and also make sure that
shadowed passwords has been taken care of becuase they will not be able to
login. make sure you have defined the network device eth0 in atalkd.conf.
also
make sure you do have the tables below in your /etc/services.

                                                   rtmp
1/ddp # Routing Table Maintenance Protocol
                                                   nbp
2/ddp # Name Binding Protocol
                                                   echo
4/ddp # AppleTalk Echo Protocol
                                                   zip
6/ddp # Zone Information Protocol

                                                   afpovertcp
548/tcp # AFP over TCP
                                                   afpovertcp 548/udp

good luck, chris
