It's a lot unfair, but then, when you don't get what you want, I guess
it's okay to just lash out.

But, IMHO, complaining because you can't re-install on a server is being
a bit tunnel-visioned. Of course you don't do the re-install on your
production server. You do it on a test machine until you're sure you
won't have problems with the new release, adn then you can safely
schedule a few short hours to take the production machine down, do a
couple of sets of backups, copy the data to a spare disk, and get the
new release in safely.

What, you do upgrades on a production machine without testing first? And
you're complaining about the need to reinstall?

Well, here's a hint. This is 2.0, not 1.3. It's hugely changed. I'd no
more "yup update" a major release (1.x to 2.x) than I'd take a CD from
a guy on a streetcorner and install it because he says it'll make my
machine faster. a release this changed and significant will live for AT
LEAST two weeks on a test machine before I'd even consider running it on
my desktop, and I want it running on my desktop with all of the
production systems on it for at least two weeks before I'd consider
putting it on the server. If you don't do AT LEAST that, you're asking
for problems --and I'm sure you'll blame the YDL folks, but it won't be
their fault....

But it's easier to blame others, I guess.

Yes, yes, I've finally finished my home page. Lucky you.

I'm really easy to get along with once you people learn to worship me.
