The Issue: (system data below)

When I boot the cd or my hardrive the booter changes my display to
640x480 and I can not change it to a 1600x1200 for my 21" monitor.
vmode by hand does not work and I would like not to change it manually
every time. I had some some similar with 1.2.1 but not this bad. I
have tried the append=??? in 1.2.1 and it did not work.

ii. I read over fbset
1. I deleted all the modes in fb.modes (created a back up just in case.)
2. put info about my monitor in the proper format. (data is below at
the end)
3. saved data and now I can not figure out how to update the frame
buffer for the console
4. tried to do
fbset -fb /dev/fb0 (it won't accept any thing)
5. my driver for X = r128, FBDev, PCi:0:16:0

The X settings are just right and my issue is when booting from yaboot
and the tux icon appears.... it is then wen the res changes to 640x480
and I can not change it when I log in at the console. I have been
reading lit and so far I just can't pull it together.

What I have done so far:

1. found in my notes from some time ago for yaboot
        append ="video=r128:vmode:20,cmode:24"
(This did not work)

2. Recompiled the kernel many different configurations
(This did not work)

3. booted with 2.2.17 kernel
this worked a bit and gave me a better res. but not for 1600x1200
gave me the idea it was the kernel since nothing else changed

4. compiled more kernels
(This did not work)

5. updated the fb.modes data base
now I do not know what to do next

Can I get some help on this issue? I have tried every thing I know and
it is not working.

This might be a over kill but it gives the whole picture. Apple tech
always want to know the details.
