OK, where are you now and how can a person help. You are using the
standard addresses behind your router. Are you dhcp ing in you
private side? When you ifconfig are you getting the proper ip
number, broadcast, mask and router addresses. The 192.168.xxx.yyy
numbers are universal private numbers.

Your router probably has some firewall capabilities. You may have
the ability to bounce pings and scans. That is always a good option.
