I have a 9500/132 with 128M RAM. First drive is 2G with MacOS 8.1
400M is available on this drive.
Second drive (internal SCSI) is 8.4G formatted OS standard. (named "Linux")

Boot X installer ran correctly.

Now when I start the 9500 and choose Linux, I briefly get some text
and then an out of sync display that looks like it might include a
penguin.

I tried

1) video =atyfb:vmode:6 kernel vmlinux ramdisk-x11.image.gz
      force video settings
2) no video driver kernel vmlinux ramdisk-text.image.gz

same effect for both
