Okay, I'll bite. I know there'll be lot's of yelling, but before
that, can you advise a newbee on just why vi over emacs?

I'm entering the world of Haskell programming. emacs seems the
default in that world. Is it just random history? Or is that emacs is
the editor for the big boys?

Is there a page that rationally compares the two? Is the "linux
culture" different than the "unix culture" on this point? I'm
beginning to see other signs that the linux and unix worlds differ. I
wonder which side on these various controversies the YDL community
will fall. And while I'm at it, I wonder if there are a few
well-defined YDL communities at all:

--Mac powerusers who are expanding/evolving (either curiously or deliberately)

--Linux server types who just want more-better

--Programmers or users who see a particular advantage to Linux on PPC

Best, Ted
