This interface was written to help "newbies" like me and you get to where we
want fast. If you want to install individual apps, you will have to learn
the ropes of Linux and follow Jim's instructions (thank you Jim).

Regarding the services mentionned in this message by Sam (ftp, telnet, talk,
etc...) they are _all_ turned OFF by default.

Sometimes I feel Linux (whichever distro) is like an IKEA kit with an
installation flyer in chinese, and the wrong size screws inside the kit...
but hey that's also part of the fun.

At least folks at TSS are trying to make it more "user-friendly" especially
for people like us accustomized to the "Mac ease", and I think they are
doing a great job (I am still wondering how they make money, knowing that
starting yesterday they give away their stuff !!!).

Have a great day,
Philippe.

Slight correction here - YDL2 uses xinetd, so look for /etc/xinetd.d/
and /etc/xinetd.conf (which does nothing really, except to call the
stuff in /etc/xinetd.d/)
info xinetd has more info (natch :-)

Do NOT kill init - that's a completely different process. (In fact,
it's the process that calls all other processes)

>You can easily 'turn off' these services (ftp, etc) by editing your
>/etc/inetd.conf file -- put a "#" (no quotes) in from of the entry
>in question,
>then "killall -HUP initd". You are commenting them out, and inet won't
start
