AFAIK, ipchains is supported (haven't tried myself, my gateway/router box runs RedHat) under YDL, however, ipchains seems to need kernel 2.2.x and is no longer supported in 2.4.x.

The 2.4 kernels include iptables. However, there is complete backward
compatibility for ipchains included. If the ipchains compability route
is used, you lose all iptables enhancements. So, it is a bit of a trade
off, but as always with Linux, you have a choice.
