Thanks for the suggestions. I am pretty clueless about Linux so when I
tried following the instructions for installing XFree86-4.0.99.1-0d
(except it wasn't 'd', it was some newer version - 'e', I think) I came to
a point where it complained about needing to upgrade some packages or
libraries or something and I didn't know where to find them. I do have a
bit of Unix experience from a job I had in high school so I am not afraid
to use the command line. I just don't know where things are or what to
type most of the time! :-)

Anyway, I was curious why I could move the installer windows around with
no jerkiness, but now that I actually have YDL installed the performace
is so much worse.
