Rob,
Good luck with the conversion. We have used Absoft for many years
now on MacOS and have been very happy. When we made our conversion
(Mainframe to MacOS) we went into the code and made it pure vanilla
to make it more transportable. That way in the future we could port
to any simple Fortran compiler. It required in some cases creating a
preprocessor and a post processor with the main code being simply
processor code, reading a simple text in an writing a simple text
out. If we decided to move tomorrow we coul easily move to the
native fortran in Linux. My experience with the fortran native to
linux is pretty pleasant.

Absoft will probably allow for a fairly painless conversion this time
and hopefully you will be sticking with a Linux base OS. I have not
used the Absoft fortran compiler on Linux (can't afford it).

When you finish let us know how everything finally turned out.
