Hi all,
I'm relatively new to this stuff, and I've got a question for you guys:
I'm trying to get an intel pro 100 ethernet card to work in my Mac 8500 running a fresh install of YellowDog Linux 2.0.
I put the card in, boot into YD, i start X and run netcfg. I add the device as eth1 (in addition to eth0, the built in ethernet hardware on the mac, which is working properly btw). Then i go into /etc/modules.conf and add: alias eth1 eepro100
I've found the eepro100 module in the modules library for the kernel, so I figure it should work. So i restart the box and as linux is shutting down eth1 i get an error from the eepro100 driver (something to the effect) :
device not started by pci bios, updating bios command 0004 -> 0005
and it is then followed by:
Kernel panic
System Scan
Restarting in 180 sec
blah blah blah.
so any ideas guys? Is it even possible to run this card on this machine in linux? I sure hope so.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Scott Shanafelt
