Yes. OS X does mess with open firmware, resulting in the problem you are
describing. The following solutions have shown up on the list.
1. Hold down the Option key while booting. Select the proper icon based
on which OS you want to boot.
2. Boot into open firmware and type the following
setenv boot-device hd:XX,ofboot.b
reset-all
where XX is the partition number of your bootloader partition.
