I think you can get mozilla to do java if you enable it in its
preferences...

but anyway, see if you can find a netscape-communicator (say 4.5). older
versions are not based on mozilla (I think) and, while not quite as cutting
edge (no style scripts, etc), they do seem more polished. Plus i know 4.5
of netscape-common will do every java applet i through at it.
