OK, every site tells me that the Ti powerbook needs XFree86 version 4 in
order to run X windows correctly.

 e.g. http://www.linuxppc.org/documentation/2000Q4/titanium.php3

With the current version I get 8 bit sucky graphics and the colors are all
screwed up.

But every attempt I make to install the new version leads me down another
blind alley.

First, I tried the XFree86 web site to see if they had a binary distribution
for the Mac. Nope.

Ok, I say, I'll get it from LinuxPPC.org.

 http://www.linuxppc.org/software/index/linuxppc_stable/software/beta/XFree8
6-4.0.2ac2-0a.ppc.html

Uh,oh- so many dependencies. I'm sure I will screw it all up. I know! I'll
get rpmfind! I used it on my previous linux system and it works great.

I attempt to install the latest rpmfind (1-5-1). Awww, too bad, it needs
libbz2.so.1

I know! I'll install the older version of rpmfind (1.2-1a) and then use it
to install the new one. It installs, yay! Aww, too bad, it crashes when I
run it.

Ok, I'll get bzip2-1.0.1-2.ppc and then the new rpmfind will run.

Awww, too bad, so many of my programs depend on libbz2.so.0 that it won't
install so I'm too scared to override it.

Sooo, can anyone recommend where I should start in order to actually install
XFree 86 version 4 without screwing up my entire system?
