I am not sure about how to do that, but there is to ways.
One of those is setting up initab to run level 5 (X runlevel) and at
prompt time choose gnome.
The other one is configure a file that I do not know exactly now and
change between kde and gnome, but sure that there is anyone who knows
about what file I am talking about.
