diald Problems

Hello out there.

Trying to get diald running. Using a PowerMac 8500 and YDL 1.2.1 Kernel
2.2.17-0.6.1 when i start diald and try to access a site outside my network
i get a chat error:

chat[967]can't get terminal parameters: Invalid argument

Itried to use the same connect script using the pppd command line and it
works like a charm. Was able to reach the net and ping www.apple.com and
get replies.

What could be wrong?
