You should just download a newer version of the kernel sources, using
rsync. See <http://linuxcare.com.au/paulus/kernels.html>. The website
<http://gdr.free.fr/linux.html> has a pretty good explanation of how to
build your own kernel for YellowDog or LinuxPPC.
