Hi all,
I'm new to PPC Linux (not to Intel Linux though). After I did an install on my PM9600 which has a MaxPowr G4/400 NewerTech upgrade, the processor card is only recognized as a G3. It seems to know it's a G4 but there must be some essential little switch missing which put the whole thing into G4 mode.
I have only done some very superficial "playing around", basically with the distributed.net client to see if there was any significant improvement in speed. Although the dnetc client says "G4" it still only loads the "lintilla" core - which gives me 1.2 MKeys/sec instead of the 3.5MKeys/sec I have under MacOS 9.1. This makes me think that I can not take advantage of the G4 in general but there must be some little thing I'm overlooking.
Any help would be appreciated.
