Everything you have there looks right... I really can't figure out
why your interfaces are acting 'linked'. And judging by the packet
counts on your NICs, I'd guess you're right about everything going
through eth0.
What happens when you take down eth0 while running? (ifdown eth0)
If you try to ping an outside address after taking down eth0 what do you get?
What's in /etc/sysconfig/network?
what are the contents of /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0
and ifcfg-eth1?
