Subject: Timeout...waiting for ppp interface

I (think) I have kppp set up right in YDL 2.1
It dials the modem and starts a connection (the log says 38400) but then I
get a "Timeout expired while waiting for ppp interface to come up"
Any ideas??
Has this happened before?

PS I have read thru the last few months archives and found no problem like
this.
