resolv.conf reveals that Yellow Dog thinks the base station is the DNS
server.

That is why I recommended looking at resolv.conf to ensure that the DNS
servers are being set properly. If
they are, you can rule it out. It is then probably something else in the
resolve chain, such as nsswitch.conf. Also, if you are running a DNS server
on that system, it could happen that the resolver is using the local DNS
which may not be configured properly.
To make the most use out of this list, it pays to read responses thoroughly.
