Although he's a bit "off" on some of the claims, it's definitely real. (I
believe existing hardware would be exempt from the SSSCA, it would only
apply to new hardware)

Despite the slight errors, however, it's very real and very dangerous. It
really would be a complete nightmare if passed and deserves your immediate
attention if you work in the computer industry.
