As far as I know, there is also no audio cd playthrough on either the Ice or
TiBook.

If Yellow Dog is supposed to be "the" PowerPC linux vendor, then their
installer should recognize and offer to configure an internal airport card,
which it does not. It wouldn't seem to be so hard to do - after all, there
is only ONE device driver to worry about, since they are all the same -
Apple's.

I'm glad I didn't buy a box set, because I would have been very
disappointed, whereas I will happily pay good money for RedHat or Mandrake,
because when their installer is done, I have a working machine. My iBook
does not "work" with YDL 2.1 - even after installing a new kernel, a step I
believe is already beyond most Mac users.

YDL out of the box is incomplete for a new TiBook. The first thing that you
have to do with a new powerbook plus YDL is get new kernel (BenH)! I have a
friend that has about 5 to 7 linux boxes (mostly like 100 and 233mhz ibm's
and clones) and he gets almost everything to work with mandrake...and I am
stuck with a 550mhz powerhouse laptop that I can't listen to mp3z on. or get
nmap for. and the modem? yuck. and I just don't have the knowledge or skill
to figure out the ati mobility radeon card myself. don't get me wrong, I
really enjoy linux, and YDL, and look forward to using it more as the device
support gets better. until then I am going to buy a GNU-darwin distribution
so I can play with things that work today.
