Snipped out a bunch of your stuff. Just want to make something clear: I
understand that you should expect new hardware to break.

The iceBook 500 is NOT new hardware, having been released roughly a year
ago. It's video card is a Rage128 (several years old). Airport card -
several years old. G3 processor - 4 years old. Open Firmware - 3 years old.
Sorry, but things should "just work" by now.

I'm not complaining that it doesn't work with new hardware. It doesn't work
with OLD hardware - look at all the posts on this list and usenet looking
for help on a beige G3 because something failed, right out of the box.

That is kind of the problem with Free Software if you are looking
for a completely working OS with support for all of the newest hardware out
there.
