Installation Difficulties (Two Problems)

I have just completed an installation of YDL (version 2.0) on my second Mac
... an older 7600 with 128 Meg of RAM. The install was done on a second 2
Gig disk (freshly initialised using FWB).. All seemed to go smoothly through
the process and BootX seems to be working properly ... finding the root
device (sdb6) and my cache.

Two problems remain (and they are nutty!!).

1. When it shuts down YDL appears to leave this machine with mounted drives!

When the booting process begins ...all goes well until I get an error
message:-

"Checking root file system ...
    /dev/sdb6 is mounted
    cannot continue, aborting ..."

and I am dropped back into a simple shell. No worries ... just umount the
partition and restart the boot process. Same thing happens again!

2. When it was running I couldn't get a desktop environment! When I ran
'startx' I got screens ... which eventually stayed grey... I had to fiddle
slightly with my video choice as root ... to get a working display with my
SVGA monitor. Using 'startx kde' is no more succesful.

However I cannot get anything on the light grey screen.

What ideas do you have for me??

With thanks

Richard

PS
My other Mac ... a slot-loading iMac is especially easy to setup with YDL. I
have been spoilt! I know some others have had difficulty ... but for me this
worked extra well ... including sound, Xwindows, internal modem, etc. Maybe
my luck was exhausted on this one!
