I'm having problems getting sound working on my 1999 iMac. I've got
Ximianised YDL 2.1. Searching the lists produced entirely too many hits.
Could someone point me at some instructions for getting sound to work,
please?

Specifically, I get (quiet) sound when the modem is dialling out, and no
sound otherwise.
