after alot of holding my breath and multiple attempts I've successfully compiled ben's 2.4.18 kernel!! It really wasn't that bad at all. I've been putting it off for sooo long because I always thought it was going to be difficult. Not the case at all. Now to get my head out of the clouds and back to business.

I recieved a message during boot "/proc/bus/usb does not exist" not found or something like that. I hope I'm not asking the obvious here but is it safe for me to remove this from my fstab now that I turned usb turned off. I guess the older precompiled kernel had usb on and put it in there. Is this even reffering to USB ports or something else?

I also added video for linux and compiled planb drivers as a module. How do I test video in on my 8500? Anyone recommend a decent piece of software?
