Subject: YDL 2.1 cdrecord HOWTO?

I want to burn CDR's on my ibook2 with a DVD-CDR combo drive.
cdrecord seems stuck in the past, wanting to talk only to SCSI
drives, and this in turn seems to require a hack: the ide-scsi
emulation module.
YDL2.1 doesn't seem to have come equipped with this binary.
Presumably, all I need to do is config the kernel and build the
modules. Has anyone else done this, or is there a more obvious way
to get CDR's burnt on this machine?
