Hello all,

I've just installed YDL 2.1 (everything) onto an 8600/200 w/ Sonnet G3 450
and a Rage Orion (128 based) pci card. I have had no success getting it to
use the r128.o driver (right one isn't it ?) instead of fbdev.

I have tried uncommenting Load "dri" ( as shown below, commented out) in
the Module section of XFConfig-4. I've also substituted the driver in the
device section (further down), replacing "fbdev" with "r128.o". I'm using
the instructions on the page linked immediately below.

When I do what I've described above, X will not restart. It very quickly
flashes a message about something having been "mysteriously murdered", by me
presumably. In order to get it working again, I have to use the no-video
option in BootX and restore the original XFConfig-4.

I've also tried using xconfigurator as was suggested by someone in the list
archive. I seem not to have this app installed.

xf86config tells me that it cannot open the directory which contains the
video card profiles. It does not exist in the location it looks for it in.
As far as I can tell, I have the proper driver in the directory at the very
bottom of my post.

If anyone can put me on the right track, I'd be very grateful, not makin'
much progress here...
