In theory or in practice? Theoretically speaking, the magic number should
be a value that is stuffed into the superblock to allow for a basic sanity
check. If it's corrupted, then something wasn't written to disk correctly
-- namely file metadata. Dunno what the actual magic number is, but if you
look for the #define in the source, you could probably find out ;)
