Drew,

Samba is the way that you can share files between Windows and Linux
without having to add anything to windows. Theoretically, Explorer allows
you to connect to an FTP site and upload. This should allow basically what
you are looking for. It is not pretty, but it works. Windows does not come
with a NFS client. So, that shoots that out the window. I prefer NFS
myself, so I use that, and use NFS Maestro from Humming bird or something
like that. Not an endorsement, but it works fairly well.

IF you setup FTP or NFS on a Linux or any other UNIX machine, youcan
use any file manager to move files around. All you need to do is add amount
point (/mnt/remote_drive), and mount the network drive (mounting anetwork
drive tells the computer to access X drive on Y machine, Windows
another cool way is to open a ssh connection, then load (on the remote
machine, type "konquerer" or your favorite file manager) konquerer - and
voila, you have a file browser loaded in your machines window, running off
the remote machine, and you can drag and drop to your hearts content. waay
cool, one of the many features I love about linux/X.

Thanks guys, I'm going to have to give this stuff a try.

Now, is ssh the same as rlogin?

What about file sharing between Linux -> Windows?
Do you have to use Samba for this?

Regards,

Drew
