IIRC, there was a thread on the MkLinux list quite a while back regarding
the inability of older Apple CDROM drives to read burned Linux CD's.
Depended on which CDROM drive.

Dylan, I hope you're not referring to the obsolete DR3 distro. One, it will
*NOT* install on a Performa. Two, it's so old that the only real upgrade
path is to fdisk and install clean. Why bother.

That said, Jeff can check out the MkLinux website and that list for more
info on getting the correct kernel for Performa installs.

i am not sur about the cdrom issue, but i would recomend getting the
MkLinux ISO and try installing that. it installed on a 7100 rather
painlessly, and should work fine on the 6100 as well.
the distro is a little old, but quit functional indeed.
