I am planning on getting a new HD for my OS X box in the next couple of
weeks. I was going to set it up as a file server for my fiancée's Redhat
Linux box. The tricky part is in planning for the future.

I want to eventually replace my G4 with something newer. I would then put
YDL on the old G4. I am not yet sure if that replacement would be a PowerMac
or an iMac. If I get a PowerMac, no problem, I just move the new drive into
that. However, if I get the iMac no can do, and the new drive would have to
be accessible via YDL, and samba (or NFS, whatever) setup on that so the
iMac could get to it.

So if I format the new thing as UFS will YDL be able to see it and share it
should I end up needing to go that route?

Thanks,
-Rob
