Couple of problems with the installation from a 1.2 CD I purchased
5/9/00

Was able to boot from the install CD using "boot
cdrom:,\PPC\CHRP\BOOTFILE.EXE" . bootfile.exe has the same sum as the
latest zImage.initrd on the website.

1) Installer doesn't recognize the CD as a Yellodog installation CD.
Looks like the installer is looking for YellowDog/RedHat as a base path

2) Copied CD to a 586 Linux machine and tried the NFS install. Had to
put in links to YellowDog/RedHat/base etc. This failed with segmentation
faults after running disk druid when the "scanning packages" screen
appears. Tried numerous hardware config changes to no avail.

3) Tried FTP install and it started to work but failed eventually with
"unable to set server to passive mode". Moved the CD directories to a
43P 260 and used it as the FTP server for the install. This went through
cleanly, installing all packages.

4) Initial reboot after the install using "boot floppy:,\ZIMAGE
root=/dev/sda3" (latest zImage.chrp from the website) failing after
mounting the rootfs with message
"cannot load /lib/ld.so.1" and then "try passing init= to the kernel"

Stuck at this point. Tried several clean re-installs. Also brought up a
rescue system and verified the libraries are installed on /dev/sda3 and
that /dev/sda3 can be mounted on /.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Eric
