Hello,
I have tried to install YDL 1.2 on a PowerMac 4400/200, and I have found
significant problems in X configuration.
Little disclaimer: I'm not a MAC user (the PowerMac is my father's
computer) even if I have some experience with Linux on Intel machines. This
means I don't know MAC peculiarities. Sorry for that.

Linux is installed on an external SCSI disk of a 128 MB RAM machine, the
monitor is a 15" Apple Multiscan display; I have two major problems
1)X Configuration
During the X configuration an ATI 2Mb VRAM board is detected.
Under Apple OS, the screen works properly with 800X600 resolution at 72
Hz, with millions of colors.
With Linux, X starts _very_ slowly and, with 64k colors@800x600, the
screen appereance is very bad (some characters are hardly readable), and
the mouse movements are wrongly managed, as they progressively destroy the
desktop.
RAM is not a problem; If I run 'free' with X and KDE, I see that some tens
of Mb are still available.
What the problem could be ?
Running 'X - showconfig' I see that I'm using Xfree 3.3.6 and that the
configured driver is FBDev
Running 'X - probeonly' the Graphics device ID is "ATIMach64".

2)If I'm right, on the YDL CD there isn't any Italian keyboard map. Do you
know whether it's available ?

Thank you for your help

Marco Schwarz
