Subject: kernel panic

I just installed Yellow Dog on a Mac 8500 and when I boot up, I get this error
"Warning: unable to open an initial console
Kernel panic: No init found. Try passing init=option to kernel
rebooting in 180 seconds"
Does anyone knows how I can pass init=option to the kernel?
Please help
