I didn't realize the iMac's (slot loading) disc eject mechanism is
"electrical" instead of "mechanical". To eject a CD-ROM disc you push
the drives eject button, (like the older models) with a small blunt
object like a paper clip. The button is located to the right of the
CD/DVD slot. The computer must be turned on to eject a disc this way. I
found this online. I spoke to a computer salesperson, at CompUSA and
they didn't know how to do it... Thanks if anyone sent an answer, now on
with the YDL install...
