I have a follow up question to Chris'.

How do I go about using the 2.4 kernel versus the 2.2 kernel. In addition, are there any drivers that haven't been migrated (AirPort, etc)?

I suppose installing 2.0 as an upgrade from 1.2.1 is not such a good idea, a fresh installation is the way to go. This means a lot of extra work (backing up/restoring). I believe kernel 2.4.x is a little faster than 2.2.x (I have seen it boot a lot faster).
