I have been using the 2.4.2 kernel with YDL 1.2.1 ever since I installed it I
just installed and then put the 2.4.2 kernel in and named it vmlinux and booted
with it. The copy I have is compiled with sound and usb printing works great
with the imac. I hope it works good with YDL 2.0

I suppose installing 2.0 as an upgrade from 1.2.1 is not such a good idea, a fresh installation is the way to go. This means a lot of extra work (backing up/restoring). I believe kernel 2.4.x is a little faster than 2.2.x (I have seen it boot a lot faster).
