The only thing I can suggest is did you download and install this:

ftp://dev.linuxppc.org/users/fsirl/R5/RPMS/ppc/dev-2.7.18-3b.ppc.rpm

if not get it and type rpm -ivh dev-2.7.18-3b.ppc.rpm
and see if that does anything, if not I don't know...
