Have you tried hitting the key that adjusts brightness a few
times while booting? There was a similar screen blanking problem
with the Lombards when using an older distribution.

I think you want to stick with plain ol' 'no video driver' until
you have a working system with a usable console.

I don't have experience with YDL 2.0/2.1 on a Wallstreet, but I
did install 1.2 for someone who had one of these machines. I
didn't experience any significant problems with the install and
with appropriate BootX video settings I was able to get X
running.

Have you tried installing with 'no video driver' selected and
using the text mode install? This seems like it would be the
safest.
