Point taken. But sometimes it's just fun to talk about linux-related
things. Many of the technical questions that breeze across this list are
not YDL specfic questions, but are rather general linux computing
questions that would be better answered on comp.os.linux.*, a local LUG,
or a mailing list forum for the specific app. Shoudl these questions be
ousted to other forums as well? Frankly, answering "How do I set up X?"
gets boring and the OT threads are a refreshing break, espically on a
Friday this close to beer-thirty ;)

I think to advance linux we all need to be technically knowledgeable and
that includes philosophy about licenses and why software X is better than
soaftware Y, not just how to write backup scripts with tar or compile
OpenOffice. This is a community as well as a techinical list and
communities tend to waggle a bit in terms of staying on topic.

ps.. next time, please remember to snip off the previous replies, esp.
if they aren't related to the subject. It's the professional thing to do
:-P
