Sorry, I should have repeated my subject line in my email. The problem is
that I can *only* get 1280x1024, but I *don't* want 1280, I want 1024x768. I
have tried all of the 1024 vmodes (though not all the cmodes--I had hoped
that didn't matter), but all I get is a black screen.

As is indicated, 1280 on a 17" monitor is rather difficult to read, and
besides that I get some distortion--a kind of "folding"--on the left edge of
the screen. Is there really nobody out there with a sawtooth and ASD 17"
that uses 1024x768?
