I updated to YDL2.1 from 2.0 with yup on my iBook2001. I did it mainly
because I wanted to use my modem and I was suggested to have a newer kernel
for this.
Everything went on quite well, some warning messages...
Problems started when I reboot the machine, the new kernel and everything
rebooted with no errors but at the login prompt I got this message:

"Machine check in kernel mode
Caused by (from SRR1=41030): transfer error ack signal"

and in the upper part of the screen:

"vector: 200 at pc=d992d084, lr=d9931b78, msr=41030, sp=d6ce9cb0[d6ce9c00]
current=d6ce8000, pid=554, comm=modprobe
mon>"

I skipped this prompt by typing "x" but after using a bit KDE I had this
message coming inside KDE itself.
Now the system is clearly unstable, two times I was unable to shutdown
correctly.
I also can not dial up or have the modem recognaized but now this is not the
main problem.

Any suggestions?

thanks,

filippo
