Have a look to this message:
I basically follow it. Note that when you will asked to chose a device there
is no USB device as it is written in this thread, you must chose LPD/LPR and
put "usb:/dev/usb/lp0".

Once obtained "cups" you can also try this command line installation.

[root@fomalhaut]# lpinfo -v
network socket
network http
network ipp
network lpd
serial serial:/dev/ttyS0?baud=115200
serial serial:/dev/ttyS1?baud=115200
...
direct usb:/dev/usb/lp0 *** check if you have this ***

[root@fomalhaut]# /usr/sbin/lpadmin -p lp0 (*** name of the printer) -E -v
usb:/dev/usb/lp0 -m stcolor.ppd *** this is the driver for Epson Stylus
Color, you need to change it ***

[root@fomalhaut]# /usr/sbin/lpadmin -d lp0
[root@fomalhaut]# /usr/bin/enable lp0

good luck,

filippo
