Subject: Errors with kpackage and yup

I've just installed YellowDog 2.1 and when I try to
use yup, with any command, I always
get the following output:

Performing dependencies sanity check...
Checking for package list updates...
Error:

And yup exits. I don't know if it is related, but I
tried to use kpackage to install a new package, and I
got this error message:
rpmdepCheck() failed
Any suggestions?
