Look in the LinuxPPC faq-o-matic. The subject isn't very clear of it's
contents, it's listed something like "how do I pass additional parameters to
the kernel". It tells you how to specify the video driver as well as
resolution and color depth. Be aware, however, that not all modes are
supported. For instance, on my G4 sawtooth, I could only get 1280x1024 and
without specifying the color depth. Although the depth is really only
relevant for X, and you can specify it in the XF86config-4 file.
